  • Free interlibrary loan (anywhere in Vermont, and beyond if necessary) – ask a librarian
  • Free internet access/WiFi  – available on the library public access computers or outside 24/7
  • How-to general:  Click on the link to log in to Listen-Up Vermont. We are listed as Castleton Public Library. When prompted to enter your library card number, enter 5574 (our phone number) and then the final five digits of your Castleton Free Library card number (nine digits altogether – no spaces or letters). Feel free to contact us if you have misplaced your card. Many thanks to Rockingham Library for sharing the following how-to pages:
  • How-to:  Click on the link to set up your account. Your library card number begins with 2VSNY0000 and then five additional numbers unique to you (no spaces).  Please note that older cards just have a “P” in place of the first nine characters. You must include all 14 characters (not the “P”). Call us if you need help or don’t know your card number.
  • VOL (Vermont Online Library) – databases of full-text periodicals, Powerspeak (free foreign language classes), Chilton guides, heritage resources – access in the library or from home
  • How-to:  Click the link or Google “Vermont Online Library” – no passwords required. We recommend browsing all resources to get started.  The Powerspeak Languages button is near the end of the alphabetic list. 
  • Universal Class – over 500 online continuing ed. courses that you can take free with your library card
  • How-to:  Start by clicking on the link above or from our home page. Enter your library card number in the box, and follow the prompts to set up an account with a password.  Your library card number begins with 2VSNY0000 and then five additional numbers unique to you (no spaces).  Please note that older cards just have a “P” in place of the first nine characters. You must include all 14 characters (not the “P”). Call us if you need help or don’t know your card number.  Once you set up your account, you can access it whenever you want with a username and password that you make up. Continue at your own pace from home or on a library computer.
